Gqom artist DJ Boonu says he is tired of being called Cobra.
Andile Chili, popularly known as DJ Boonu, said people mistakenly call him Cobra, the character played by actor Presley Chweneyagae on Mzansi Magic's The River, when he's at events.
DJ Boonu, known for his debut song Uswidi Wodwa, told TshisaLIVE it's worse when he gets out of KwaZulu-Natal.
“I wasn't watching The River but soon as I watched it I started seeing the resemblance that we look alike. Previously, I was hoping I'd bump into him in Johannesburg or at the Durban July but no luck,” he said.”
“At first I thought people were mocking me, [it] then got to the point where I'd get annoyed because I don't know the guy, only seen him on TV, but now I'm willing to meet him, grab a picture and make our fans happy.”
DJ Bongz said he understood how fans could confuse the two stars.
“These celebrities are not related, some of them are peers in the industry and in most cases they will be seen working together. I wonder how will the ambience be when Presley meets Boonu? They do look alike, that's for sure.”
